ABOUT BERENIKA
Berenika sees painting as a subtle non-verbal language that speaks to the depth of feeling stirred up by the beauty of the natural world. Rooted in the figurative painting tradition, Berenika’s paintings specifically explore ephemeral light across a range of painting media: watercolours, oils, acrylics and soft pastels. Relying on a sense of space and gently disappearing edges, she evokes the poetry of flickering light and shadow. Her process is highly intuitive, grounded in deep introspection and a fascination with pigments and the material qualities of paint.
Berenika is currently the Young Artist in Residence at the Po Leung Kuk/Angela Leong Foundation in Hong Kong. She is equally pursuing a BA (Hons) degree in Painting at the Open College of the Arts (OCA) in the UK. Alongside her formal studies at the OCA, Berenika has refined her practice under the mentorship of Singaporean master watercolourist Ong Kim Seng and through a range of painting courses and workshops in Singapore and abroad. A member of the Singapore Watercolour Society, Berenika has featured in solo and group exhibitions both abroad and in Singapore which she calls home.
