Lisa Larson Lee
(b. Calgary, Canada.)Lisa Larson Lee is an abstract artist working primarily in acrylics. Her work explores themes of freedom, strength, joy, and escape.
Through the use of layering and erasure, she builds dynamic compositions that feature rich colour, tactile texture, and recurring motifs. She avoids fixed style, preferring instead to create imagined and ambiguous landscapes and figures.
“I believe that my work speaks to a particular type of soul: curious, daring, independent, and decisive. My bold marks and vibrant colours stir emotion and recall, allowing for unique, personal interpretation. Expressing ourselves so freely is enticing; art can transform that abstract ideal into tangible reality.”
Growing up across diverse geographies—from the Canadian prairies near the Rocky Mountains, to Vancouver Island and tropical Singapore—Lisa draws inspiration from organic shapes, rugged terrain, shifting seas, and incongruous patterns. She taps her inner world to weave memory, myth, and some mayhem into her art.
Her practice began formally in 2016, and since 2018 Lisa has exhibited in solo and group shows in Singapore, Nepal, and Malaysia. Her works are held in private collections in Canada, Dubai, Finland, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Spain, the UK, and the US.
She holds a BA in Communications.
