My favourite time there is between the lunchtime bustle and the madness of the blue smoke from the satay grills at night, when the market temporarily quiets down and I can admire the lacelike Victorian ironwork.

Berenika Drazewska

Berenika sees painting as a subtle non-verbal language that speaks to the depth of feeling stirred up by the beauty of the natural world. Rooted in the figurative painting tradition, Berenika’s paintings specifically explore ephemeral light across a range of painting media: watercolours, oils, acrylics and soft pastels. Relying on a sense of space and gently disappearing edges, she evokes the poetry of flickering light and shadow. Her process is highly intuitive, grounded in deep introspection and a fascination with pigments and the material qualities of paint.
