Acrylic and fabric collage on canvas

ENQUIRE

A quiet corner behind Swan Lake at the Botanics Garden, where otters dance in the water and sunlight drifts through the trees. Layers of acrylic and fabric guide the eye from the lush greenery to the sparkling lake beyond, creating the sense of stepping into a private, magical world.

This fleeting moment—soft, serene, and alive with light—reminds us to pause, take a breath, and notice the small wonders that quietly surround us.

Canvas Connections artist Jillian Cheong

Jillian Cheong

Jillian Cheong is a Singaporean artist who strongly believes that art should inspire hope and celebrate beauty. A turning point in her art practice was when she came down with Long Covid in 2022, with crippling fatigue, giddy spells and brain fog. This left her unable to fulfill her roles as wife, mother, daughter, and artist, and caused her to re-evaluate her way of measuring success, and to grapple with the concepts of identity, worth and value. Through this journey, she has learned to celebrate each moment and to value each individual for who they are and not what they do. These themes carry strongly in her artworks. Nature is often her source of inspiration, in both imagery and metaphor.
