What media of art do you work in? Painting, ceramics, etc?
Digital Art Media.

How would you describe your genre of painting?
The genre for digital art would be under new media art as it uses digital technology as an essential part of the artistic process.

Can you describe your creative process?  When you begin a painting, do you have an idea of what the end result is? Do you prepare sketches first?  Do you know the colors you are going to use?
My artworks are nature-inspired and created with photographs taken by me. Sometimes, I photograph a specific scenery or a situation to create an artwork as I already have an idea in my head and sometimes, I open up old photographs and let them guide me. It is not definite process.

What is the message you want people to take away from your artwork?
Through my art, I want to highlight the beautiful balance between humans and nature and how they both are interdependent on each other. I want my art to be a portal where viewers can pause, breathe and lose themselves in the serenity of nature and a dreamlike wilderness.

100 years from now, how do you want people to remember you as an artist?
II want people to remember me as someone who bridged nature with the digital world. I hope my work will be a reminder that even in a world of advanced technology, my inspiration always came from the miracles of the earth.

My favourite praise that I received is that – Your art feels like coming home.

What are your hobbies outside of Art?

What is an interesting piece of trivia about you that people don’t know?
I studied interior designing but life had other plans and I became a model in Bombay. I took part in Miss India 2000 and then I dropped it all when I got married and went to sail the seas with my husband.

Give me one or two sentences about your family?
My family is my everything. We are super close knit and everyone is so supportive of each other.

What has been your strongest influence in your art career thus far?
My Mother as she is one of the most creative people I know, whether it is painting, cooking, flower arrangements, stitching our dresses when we were kids or hosting the most amazing parties. She nailed it all.

What is your vision for yourself as an artist 5 years from now?
My vision is make more meaningful artworks and to be a respected name in the art circles in Singapore. I also hope to be able to help some emerging artists find their ground someday.

Which one is your favorite artwork you have ever done and tell us why? I have so many, but my favourite artwork is “No turning back”. It is a simple artwork, which shows a swan (from Singapore’s Botanical Garden) and the wake it leaves behind. For me, the Swan is forging ahead relentless in her sursuit of a better tomorrow. Learning from her past and letting it pave her future.

Which is one of your most recent works and tell me how you would describe the artwork to a potential buyer.
I have recently made my first spiritual art piece with the Sufi Whirling Dervishes. This artwork is very different from my usual nature inspired work. It evokes a total sense of peace for me and also took me out of my comfort zone. I hope to do more of these.
