CAPTURING LIFE’S BEAUTY WITH EVERY BRUSHSTROKE - WHERE REALISM MEETS THE SOUL.

PRITHA BHADRA

A classic realism artist, I draw and paint with oil, graphite and charcoal in the traditional realism style infused with a contemporary touch.

My creative process starts with an emotional spark triggered by something I see, whether it’s flowers, people or still life. Subsequently, I engage in creating studies of these subjects before getting started on the actual painting. Throughout the painting process, I explore various brushstrokes and colors, experimenting to bring my artistic vision to life.

I draw substantial inspiration from the wisdom of revered masters like William Adolphe Bouguereau, Henry Fantin Latour among many others.

Through my drawings and paintings, my goal is to reveal the profound simplistic beauty that surrounds us and I want the viewer to embark on a journey of discovery and emotions. My wish, for those who experience my art, is to be captivated by the glimpses of everyday life and nature, leaving them captivated and inspired.

BIOGRAPHY

CUPCAKES

OIL ON COTTON CANVAS ON PANEL

23 CM X 30 CM

2022

This painting transport me back to treasured memories, rekindling a wave of nostalgia tied to the celebrations of my childhood and the joyous moments I shared with my family. Often overshadowed and overlooked, they serve as a reminder of the profound joy that can be found in life’s simplest pleasures. As an artist, my purpose through this painting “Cupcakes” is to reignite an appreciation for these everyday nuances, allowing them to take centre stage and bring renewed delight to our lives. The painting is done in oil built on few layers.

CUT ORANGES

OIL ON LINEN CANVAS STUCK ON WOODEN BOARD

20 CM X 25 CM

2023

The artwork represents my endeavour to capture the beauty of everyday existence. In my north-facing studio, I'm blessed with exquisite natural light, and I aimed to capture its gentle embrace of these segmented orange pieces. This painting serves as a reminder of the intrinsic beauty within even the simplest of objects, such as an orange. It encourages viewers to contemplate that, in life, everything and everyone possesses a unique beauty if we possess the discerning eye to perceive it. I’ve painted this in the traditional realism style with a contemporary touch.

PINK ROSES

OIL ON LINEN CANVAS STUCK ON GATORFOAM BOARD

23 CM X 30 CM

2023

Painting flowers brings me immense pleasure. I loved these miniature pink roses I bought from the supermarket. I chose to paint them in the alla prima style, applying expressive brushstrokes to capture their beauty.

AZALEAS

OIL ON LINEN ON CANVAS

46 CM X 66 CM

2023

This painting depicts the azaleas I encounter on my walks. The striking pink and white hues captivated me so profoundly that I felt compelled to capture them on canvas. My intention with this painting was not merely to depict the flowers, but to convey their vibrancy and vitality. The painting represent optimism and the brighter aspects of life.

BUNCH OF GRAPES

OIL ON LINEN CANVAS STUCK ON WOODEN BOARD

28 CM X 35 CM

2022

This painting was inspired by my visit to a vineyard in Thailand. In this artwork, I sought to emphasize the falling leaves surrounding the grapes, symbolizing their protective gesture similar to how bees safeguard their queen. Executed in oil, the painting predominantly captures various shades of green as its primary tone.
